Reader Response draft #4

A s stated by Roberts (2023), the 2.0L EA888 Engine is one of the most technically advanced engines produced and is now renowned as one of the standout engines of the 21st Century by car enthusiasts. Over the years, the EA888 has undergone remarkable evolution. According to Catrina C (2020), the EA888 was introduced in 2007 by Volkswagen and it aimed to revolutionize efficiency, performance, and emission standards and supplant the EA113 series.  With the older, naturally aspirated technology of its predecessor, the EA888 introduced direct fuel injection for enhanced fuel efficiency and combustion control. As stated in an article from GreenCarCongress (2021), the EA888 embraced turbocharging, a contemporary method to amplify torque and power in smaller-capacity engines. Now in its fourth generation, the EA888 has made significant strides. Equipped with an upgraded engine management system, it delivers superior performance, emissions control, and drivability.  Such advancements in ma

Critical Reflection

Starting the module with minimal knowledge of Critical thinking and communication, my goal was to improve both my ability to actively listen and my ability to communicate with others succinctly. Over the course of 13 weeks, I feel that I have achieved these goals that I had set for myself through the ample opportunities in the forms of various assignments tasked to us. Not to mention, by actively engaging with the course materials, participating in discussions, and responding positively to feedback, I was also able to further advance my research skills which helped me extensively with my assignments. During the drafting of the reader response, a key milestone of the module, one of the challenges I faced was crafting an essay on a topic that I had no background knowledge of. This gave me an opportunity to enhance my reading and research skills. Through the use of paraphrasing and critical thinking, I was able to then form my own opinions on the subject and reinforce them with my researc

Contributions to the Research Project

March 11, 2024 1. I documented and reported the minutes of our initial project meeting  2. I voted and finalised a research topic: Improvements to WeWalk Smart Cane By Integrating LIDAR Cameras to Enhance Safety Features. 3. I contributed to defining a clear problem statement and purpose statement for our research. This included carefully considering the ideal scenario, pinpointing gaps in existing research, and defining the goals embedded in the problem statement. 4. I conducted research about the applications and the sensors used in existing smart walking sticks for the introduction portion of the report. Using Google and Google scholar as main search engines.  5. Due to our small group size and manpower, I took up additional roles and taskings for the research project. 6. Along with the other members, produced the presentation slides for the group pitch, ensuring that the content was aligned with the report. 7. Ensured that the formatting for the report was consistent throughout and

Initial research pathway

Description of 2.0L EA888 Engine Siew Hoong’s interest in cars and mechanical parts of automotive engineering brought us together to settle for this “bulletproof” engine that has been one of the more popular engines in the 21st century. Keefe has had an engineering background whilst he was in poly and has since gained substantial interest in machinery and researched further to learn more about this topic Our team looked into gAI and chose Chatgpt and Google to gain more insights about the engine and its origin. We subsequently visited the Mother’s Company, Volkswagen‘s website to learn more about how Ea888 engines came about. We gathered all the relevant information about the features and advantages of the engine and put it together.
